Kramer school of nursing?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, I am getting pretty desperate here in CA. And I am thinking about going to Kramer school of nursing. I heard that it is only 60,000$ Can anyone give me information about it other than what's on the website. Have you been here? What's your perception of it ? Do you think it is a bad idea?

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

I only see a school by that name in Oklahoma. Can you provide a link?

Yes it's in Oklahoma

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

It appears to be both regionally and program accredited. Both of which are good signs. Other than that- I don't know anything about the program. It does look like a religious school if that matters to you.

You should do some additional legwork by getting NCLEX pass rates for the program you are interested in from the OK Board of nursing.

Specializes in GENERAL.

My perception is that "desperation" is not a good approach to evaluating any school.

"I heard that it was only sixty thousand" tells me you have no concept of money management.

Your posting approach is called "overselling"

This is another indication of desperation as you want to convince yourself and others that you are making the right educational decision.

Maybe you are, maybe you aren't. That's up to you.

Two things I'm wondering about. Why isn't this school listed on (collegescorecard.ed.gov) and there must be a thousand more affordable nursing schools between California and Olklahoma.

But working off expensive Federal loans seems like free money until those chickens come home to roost. And they always do.

The reason I said "ONLY 60,000$" Is because here in CA there are a few bsn programs that are 100,000- 118,000$ and a adn for 70,000

My friend. You have got to become a nurse as frugally as possible.

Take the prerequisites one at a time at the CC, have patience and pay your way until you absolutely have to tap into loans.

If you do this you will pay a fraction of the cost of obtaining the degree.

Once you have the degree nobody cares how much you spent on a school except you who will be stuck with a huge bill.

Do it on the cheap so you can enjoy the fruits of your labors. It's not glamourous but it will keep you out of debtor's prison and allow you to have a life after school.

You didn't say what degree you are seeking. I know many people in California that are doing degrees and not paying what you're guoting. There are a few that did and are now have regrets. Also, some schools give discounts based on your employer.

Tell us the degree you're seeking, so we could be more useful.:)

This may seem like a tough answer but it is absolutely the right one. $60,000 is a lot of money. You are gonna be a nurse not a doctor. That $60,000 becomes over $100,000 once interests kick in and that will take you a long ass time to pay off. Go to a community college, get all your pre reqs first on the cheap then look at cheaper options. You are gonna regret it so badly if you pay that much for school.
