Help.. Need Advice on Colleges

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello, I am a senior in high school. I will graduate with my general associate's degree, and I have a few questions about attending the nursing programs at colleges near me. I really want to attend a four year university (University of West Florida is my pick), but they only have an RN to BSN program. Closer to home where I will graduate with my associates's, there is a state college (used to be a community college), and it has a RN program. But when I go on the website to look at the program, it says " RN, A.S." Obviously that stands for associate's in science, but I have always been told that an A.S. is not a transferable degree. Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I am very confused on if I will be able to get my RN certification at the state college and then transfer to the University for my BSN.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

I have an AAS degree and it transferred to a 4 year university that had an RN-BSN program. Most ADN are really Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science in Nursing.
