Help!!!!....I'm lost......

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey my name is Jessica and I'm 24 yrs old. I graduated in Dec 15' w/ a BS degree in Fashion Merchandising from New York City. Now I want to purse a degree in Nursing. I know this is a big change but I have decided this is what I want to do and I'm ready. I'm caring, dedicate, generous, and driven. I currently have a certificated CNA w/ experience in the nursing home/ hospital. I have done my research in what accelerated school I should apply to but its so hard. I would like to go to NYU, Columbia, SUNY Downstate, University of Miami or even Chamberlain college of Nursing but they all have a different start date, prerequisite requirements, tuition cost. I owe 30k student loans! ugh! I cry everything I think about the amount loans I took out! Is there advice you would like to share with me. Thank you in advance.

If tuition is the problem you may want to do the adn at a Community college then go back for your bsn. You'll still end up having to pay but at least you'll be registered. The bsn you may have to do a couple clinical hours But it won't be difficult. The only issue I see with you going the adn first route would be finding a job. But I know you'll be able to find some place that would take a New grad adn, just might take some searching.

Agreed about attending a community college. You can get your prerequisites and your ADN for a lot less money than at a university. You could work as an ADN and complete your BSN at your leisure. That's what I did (am doing).

Community or state colleges and PUBLIC universities!....your list has lots of private schools....why pay the Phd price for a bachelor degree? Get your ADN. In addition most hospitals will pay you tution to get your BSN.....30k loans for fashion school?
