Gateway CC LPN Cohort Fall 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey All,

I thought I'd create a thread for future LPN applicants awaiting admission for, hopefully, the Fall 2016 cohort.

I was hoping for a lucky spring 2016 spot, but oh well..., so here's to hoping for this fall.

I finished a nursing assistant course at Paradise Valley Community College and submitted my PN application on 12/7/2015. So I thought others can share their "patience" on here like me.

Choose days it's fast track if you're able it's harder because more shorter time period but it's 7 months

I am about to turn in my application and can't get a straight answer from anyone at Gateway. The application says I need a 2 series TB test. I have to have one test, have it read 48-72 HR later THEN go back 1 week later and do a second injection and test....

The lady in admissions I talked to today told me I could just have the blood titer drawn but could not tell me how recent it needed to be done.

I have a titer from 6 months and 3 days ago. I just want to make sure I don't get my application rejected because I was given the wrong information.

TIA

Call Deon she will be able to answer your questions, she is in charge of all health documents. I believe you are okay with what you have, if you have a titter but call her to make sure. Hope this helps!

Just do the 2 step go back after a week after having the first one place I can guarantee you they'll have a problem with anything else, they ran me through circles forever. Do your own research and ask others because they will never give you a straight answer and usually heybdont answer at all. That's how they are an always will be.

Or just do the chest xray. It's easier and non invasive and lasts two years instead. That's what i did.

Thanks you guys, I appreciate it. I thought I wasn't done with this application but now I'm having to go back a get a a Hep B series and TB testing and it's going to be expensive...

Did you guys pass? Are you graduating? For the people who start fall 2016. I heard alot of people failed the class.

Hey! Definitely no easy ride! Yes a lot of ppl did not pass. 1st semester is definitely a smooth ride 2nd semester gets difficult. Drives you insane, well at least me, full time and taking 3 other prereqs courses. But it's do able! Passed!

Congrats on everyone who made it through both semesters. Yeah the first block was way easier. I was fortunate to need not study much. 2nd block was difficult for me and I wasn't taking any other classes. I passed and hopefully starting block 3 in August! I can't believe the time gone by and how fast it went -- all the clinicals and quizzes and worksheets we've done to finally say that we're nurses...just unlicensed (for now). Registered for my NCLEX about a week ago so hopefully hearing something about it soon! Good luck to the future graduates and future students about to make their way through! Utilize the resources available and make friends with your classmates because everyone and everything there will help you get through this program! Best of luck and enjoy the journey!
