Chamberlain College of Nursing or Stay at my University

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys, I am currently a junior "former nursing student." Ok so this is my story I currently go to a university and was accepted into their nursing program. The entrance of their program required a 5 week summer session of pathophysiology and health assessment. However, I did not pass the 5 week patho class actually 41 students failed the patho class out of about 90. I received a B in health assessment and a D (73%) in patho. So now the only way I can start the fall session at this university is to pay another 7k and wait until summer 2014 to retake patho. So now I am debating if I should return to the university and just change my major or transfer. Ive currently been looking into Chamberlain college of nursing- Chicago but I'm really weary about the school. I have a 3.0 gpa and all of the prereqs completed however Im honestly just confused on what I should do and I just would like to get some advice from nurses or nursing students on their opinion on my current situation.

What are you leery about regarding Chamberlain?

My perception is that their program is pretty good. Have you gone out and met with them yet?

Im leery about their reputation **the name** is it worth it? I have done my research on the school and it really seems to good to be true!

I have spoke to an admission counselor, however, I am to late to get in there upcoming semester so I would have to wait until Jan 2014. But how do you perceive my "Story" what advice can you give, it would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

Chamberlain is owned by DeVry, and for profit, so it may be pricey.

According to your post, it looks like you aren't going to return to nursing if you stay at the same school. Do you want to be a nurse? Finishing college isn't your long term goal, but a short term goal.

You could always attend community college for a semester, maybe get A&P, other co-requisites out of the way, and decide what you want to do for January...and beyond

Yes I do want to become a nurse that has always been my plan since high school, I have all the prereqs completed. If I return back to my university I would probably end up changing my major to Healthcare management and once I receive that degree go on to pursue nursing. Im having a hard time deciding whether I should pack up and leave the university and have nothing as far as a degree or stay and at least get something. Ive spent so much time and money and for me just to leave without anything. But on the other hand I really do want to do nursing. Im just so confused and frustrated!

I just want to make the right decision! Did you go to Chamberlain?

I only know chamberlain by word of mouth.

Maybe sit down with each school, hash out your concerns, see what they say.

Has anyone taking Fundamentals and Health Assessment Lecture online. Please any advice.

As MrChicagoRN mentioned, maybe take a step back and look at your local community college to retake patho and then go back to the university. I would retake it at your university but since it's too pricey for your pocket, I'd say go to a CC and go from there but don't give it up. If you want something that badly, you'll make the necessary sacrifices no matter what's going on in your life.
