oh okay that’s awesome you got in then and i am applying to the medical university of south carolina and belmont that’s it! it’s hard because a lot of school have different prerequisites.

Ah good luck!!! MUSC is a great school also! But yea, the prerequisite thing sucks, especially when some schools require chem 2 and some don’t!! I decided not to take chem 2 so it did limit some of my options

I am just now looking into this program. Can someone give me information on it-Ive never heard of it before. Is it accredited? Is it a good school? Good location? Good academics? How religious is it?

Yes, it is accredited. I heard nothing but great things from people that went through their nursing program, as well as, what I have read online. Nashville is a great city in general, but I know the Belmont Area is extremely nice from what I have heard. I am not sure how religious it is, but I do not think it would affect academics; however, you do have to take 6 credits of religion to apply. At least 3 must be completed before you matriculate into the program. I chose to apply to this school, because I have all the prereq's without having to take several extra classes. What other programs are you applying to?

I just got accepted too! I still need to take Chemistry in the spring and both religion classes. The chemistry is easy to find, but I'm having a hard time tracking down where to take the religion classes. Have you taken yours yet? Any suggestions?

Hi Brhea3, I am currently in New Testament! They told me that I can complete the 2nd religious course during the winter term of the program!

what was your gap from undergrad? and when did you apply? I am sending in my application tomorrow but was just wondering how long it took for you to hear back!

I meant GPA* not gap haha

I currently have a 3.417 GPA but I'm still a senior in my undergrad program. I applied September 5th and heard back September 29th!

Did you include your resume in you application? I uploaded all of my experiences and all the stuff just right into the application, but I wasn't sure if I should include my resume as well, since it will just have all the same things on it.

    I uploaded mine!

Oh that's great news! I've been worried about how I'm going to get all 3 classes in one semester and still work since I don't want to leave my job until the end of July at least. Are you taking the religion classes at Belmont? The admission coordinator told me I could take them elsewhere to save money, but I'm having a hard time finding them elsewhere.

Belmont is a great school. Along with Vanderbilt, they are the best in the area, though Vandy is of course more well known. The nursing program is fully accredited and the accelerated program is 16 months starting in the fall only. Belmont is a Christian school, but they've really backed off on the religious aspect in recent years. You do still have the 6 hours of religion courses required and there are definitely plenty of opportunities for those who would like to be more active in the religious community, but it is no longer mandatory. They're also very open/tolerant and embracing of diversity, especially for a Christian school in the south. I live in Nashville and the Belmont/Vanderbilt area is one of the best parts of the city. Very expensive to live there though, so if you're considering moving here for school, you might do best to live a little farther out and commute in. Nashville in general is a pretty awesome city. We've been growing a lot lately so there's always a lot going on.
