The general question that I have is:

"How competitive am I for nursing schools at Universities?"

So, with that being the question, I should probably provide a bit of detail about my situation.

I am a 25 year old second year student at a pretty good two year college in Florida. I started the school in Spring 2013 with about 15 transferable hours from classes I took while I was in the Army. I took 17 hours for spring 2013, 17 for summer and 19 for this fall. I am in Phi Theta Kappa (Honors Society), the Honors Program in a research track (researching Neuroplasticity following brain insults), I participate in extra-curricular informative research and a bit (a small bit) of extra-curricular volunteer work. I'm also previously a medic in the Army with field and hospital experience. I worked in the O.R.'s with Anesthesiologists and in a Pain Clinic. I have a 3.84 (prior to finishing my fall courses). Unfortunately, I have 3 withdraws on my transcript which is the most worrisome thing at the moment. One of the withdraws was from my first go at college 7 years ago when I practically failed out receiving 1 acceptable grade out of 3 classes. The other two were for legitimate reasons but are more recent with one from during my time in the Army and the other from my current college.

If it weren't for the withdraws and a bad record from 7 years ago I would feel really confident about my chances of getting into a decent school of nursing. I've done my best to correct my mistakes, but I'm unsure if it is enough to get into UF, FSU, UCF, USF or possibly even UNF.

If anyone has any suggestions for how I can boost my resume or "insider knowledge" on how these withdraws may affect me, I would be really interested in hearing it!

Thanks if you've read this this far. I really would appreciate any input.

Daniel
