Wait List at TCC

U.S.A. Oklahoma

For all of you in Tulsa thinking of going to TCC, is there a wait list to get in? If yes, how long did you have to wait to get in?

Specializes in Level III cardiac/telemetry.

I'm told there is, but don't know how long it is since I never applied there. I do know that this coming year they are trying a new program to help relieve the waitlists. It's called 1+1 and is in cooperation with Tulsa Tech. Some of the students who were put on the waiting list this year were offered the option of doing 1 year at Tech and then going directly into TCC's 2nd year. From what I've heard they will be doing the exact same program as all the others in practical nursing at Tech and their 2nd year program will be exactly the same as those who do the LPN-RN at TCC but they are guaranteed admission next fall into TCC's 2nd year.

TCC does have a wait list. I applied for this fall but didn't get in. It is important to have already completed your prerequisites because most students who get in have completed them and you will compete with them for the limited spots. TCC (like most programs I suppose) give more weight to science hours and it is competitive to get in their program. The bottleneck in educating nurses appears to be there are more applicants than educators. You will have to take college algebra and 20 hours of science classes that can be pretty tough depending on your instructor.

You can check out everything you need to know about the nursing program at TCC at:

What was posted about the LPN 1+1 program is accurate. I am in that first class starting 8/21. We will go to school 8-2:30 M-F at Lemley. It is self paced and takes from 7-12 months. I will start the TCC ADN program in Fall of 2007. After I finish my ADN at TCC in spring 2008 (which will be on Saturdays) I will go through the RN bridge program at OU (Saturdays and distance learning) to get my BSN by spring 2009. At least that is my plan at this very moment.

That was my plan, dottimur, to have my prereqs out of the way and to do VERY well on them. I know that TCC is competitive and if I can get the science type classes out of the way and do well, it will be easier on me in the program and it would look good on an application. Thanks for the info lana on the TCC program. If that's offered, I might consider it. Thanks for all your help. :) Best of luck to everyone!!!! :) Kat
