U.S.A. Oklahoma

Does anyone know the average new grad salary in OKC?

Specializes in Adolescent Psych, PICU.

Between $18-$19/hr base pay plus differential. That seems to be the average.

Wow, that seems pretty low. What about for experienced RNs? Any difference if you have a BS or work in a specialty area? Back in my hometown (SF), new grads start at about $45-$50 hr!

Welcome to Oklahoma. This sounds about right for new RN grads...

You have to realize that when they say the cost of living is much lower here than in California it's true. You'll be pleased with the house you can buy for your money here.

We used to live in San Fran and you have to make that much an hour there just to survive....$18+ an hour here is actually just fine! Housing costs here, etc are cheap. You can't compare Oklahoma to San Fran and other high cost of living areas.

You CAN make for money here, the more experience you have the better you will get paid, I know lots of RNs who make $50/hr working prn/flex pool/contracts, travel nursing pays a lot, etc. There are options for those with experience. Actually a girl who I am graduating with is already making $30/hr working for a plastic surgeon in his office :)

But for new grads with no experience $18-$19/hr is where you will start.

I'm starting in an ICU and I'll be making $18.25 an hour.

The VA hospital pays more per hour if you have your BSN.....you can make really good money working there.
