Life after 4510...

Please tell me that the writing load gets easier after 4510. Even just hearing that it gets slightly better would help. I simply cannot write a 3-4 page paper every week for the next year...

Wish I could say it does, but it doesn't. I just finished the program in May and paper writing is there throughout the program.

Thanks for the reply... So does that mean that all (or most) of the classes have a paper due for 4 out of 5 weeks? I can understand one or two, but 4 papers in a 5wk class seems like overkill. I have a prev BA degree in Art History (very writing oriented) and I don't think I had any classes with

4 papers, and those were 15 wk classes.

Depends on what class you are taking. I always had papers plus DB posts due, some classes not every week, but most of the nursing classes are heavy on APA and writing papers.

*sigh* :-( Thanks...

Lots of writing, but not necessarily papers. I feel like my DB posts qualified as papers without a title page.

I think they are easier but some have more writing if that makes sense. I hated 4510 but the other ones are okay. I feel like I am having writer's block for 4530 but that's because it's one of the last three classes because this is my last semester.

PERRLA is worth licensing for one year in my opinion or two if you plan to go a slower pace.

I too am taking 4510 and find it very intense. I am reconsidering the schools 5 week couses and thinking its inflexabilty is not for me. Considering my options of transferring to a program with 8-12 week courses. It seems they basically all require the same amount of writing but it is spread out so it is less demanding, allowing for some time for something other than work and school. Any suggestions where this couse will transfer?

It is true taking a class over 8-12 weeks will be less demanding but you will probably be taking three at a time (consuming just as much time as one 5 week course). I work with someone who went through a program where the classes were 15 weeks. She was more stressed than me (and I stress easily). I thought 4510 was more writing intense than the others. It gets a little better, I promise.

I still think it's more writing than even a 15wk course, nevermind the time factor. Again, I've never written 4 papers in one regular length class... Given I've already paid for it, I'm going to try to finish, and then see how the next one is. Any thoughts on the writing in the community class?

I'm fairly certain I didn't have to write any lengthy papers in community. I remember discussion boards and a few small miscellaneous assignments. However, I did have to do the windshield survey which was answering repetitive questions. Mine ended up being 8 or 9 pages but still much easier than organizing a paper. I heard they did away with the windshield survey so I am not sure what they have replaced it with.

Community was one of my fave classes....although for the life of me, I can't remember what they substituted for the windshield survey. It wasn't nearly as tedious as that assignment sounded! 4510 is the worst of the worst, trust me.
