nurse residency- cincinnati?

U.S.A. Ohio

Hi everyone,

I am graduating in early May (*fingers crossed that the rest of the program goes smoothly!!!*) from an ADN program. I will have approximately 3 years of experience working in the hospital as a nurse's aide by the time I graduate.

Cincinnati has been on my radar. I am interested in eventually doing critical care and/or pediatrics.

I wanted some information about the options, if any, for new graduates in the cincinnati area. I heard that Cincinnati children's hospital has an RN residency program- are they open to ADN grads? Also, I know that Christ hospital systems has a critical care residency that sounds amazing....anyone have any experiences/specific information about this program? It appears from the website that they are open to ADN grads, but I can't tell for sure? Shriners would be amazing too...do they accept ADN grads?

any information would be greatly appreciated!

anyone? please?

I can't answer your question directly but I believe Christ and Children's are both Magnet hospitals which are more likely to either require a BSN for employment or have you sign that you are enrolled in a BSN program or will complete your BSN within x amount of years.

Have you considered calling or emailing the human resources departments of the hospitals for your answer? They could give you a direct answer to help you with future plans.

Many hospitals also have job postings listed online on their websites. Looking through these is a good way to see if there is a trend for education requirements for RNs within the hospital.

Good luck to you.
