Lakeland community college wait list & prereqs insight??

I'm new to Lakeland community college RN program. Just taking pre-reqs right now. Classes begin August 22, 2009. I'd like to hear from students who have completed pre=reqs and know about how long wait is for program and set realistic expectations for me...Any info is great...THANKS ALL.

I'm hoping to start pre-requ's at Kent State Ashtabula branch this fall...have you looked into them at all, or is it too far for you to drive? They accept nursing students twice a year so currently, from what I understand, there is no waiting list. They even just added a whole new building just for health programs. I took a few classes at Lakeland and the credits transferred, so maybe you could look into doing your pre-requ's at Lakeland and doing the actual nursing program at Kent...either way, you've got a little bit of time.

No wait list? Wow, I stand corrected, that's great news-that's where I plan on going for ACCESS in nursing after my lpn. Thanks for the good news :D

Wow! Thank you so much. I'd like to know more about Kents program..I'll go online and check it out, but theres nothing like getting the real deal from someone who knows. If you dont mind what classes did u take at Lakeland? I have Biology for health careers, Medical Terminology, and some electives. How long was it from the time you applied till you where accepted and are there pre-reqs before they let you in or do they come along with the program....THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HEADS UP!:up:

UPDATE: I called them a few days ago, they said the wait list is up to 2011 :(

I am in the RN program and I only waited 10 months. They tell you 2 years, but you don't wait that long

I am in the RN program also. I wouldn't fret about he wait list if you have prereqs to do. I know the outline in their catalog shows how to take the prereqs with the nursing classes, doing it all in four semesters and a summer, but don't set yourself up for failure, here. That is totally misleading. You really need to get them all done before the program starts and during summers, because it's a very intense program. I was on the Deans list, with a GPA of 3.97, and I know I wouldn't have been able to do it. If you fall below a 2.5 for any program class, it's an automatic failure. If you fail one class, you need to appeal to the dean for permission to retake the failed class AND permission to reenter the program. If you fail a second class, you are OUT! No appeals allowed! Wasted time and money. So, get those prerequisites done before and then you'll be free to study your butt off doing the endless, incessant, unnecessary paper work they have for you, every waking moment you have.
