Kent State Accelerated BSN - Summer 09

U.S.A. Ohio

Published

Hi, I recently applied to Kent State's Summer 09 BSN program and I'm just waiting to hear back if they've accepted me or not. I emailed the school about when to hear back and they said possibly mid March.

Just wondering if anyone has applied for the Summer program and if they've heard back yet?

Thanks!

Feels like I have no chance then... I wasn't aware that I could take those classes to help increase my chances. I figured doing really well in the prereqs (I have done) would be enough. I am only missing one class. I wonder how the point system works... if one point really changes much. Oh well I guess can't do anything now.

Alwaystiredmommy,

Are you going to apply somewhere else if you don't get in to Kent? I'm guessing I didn't get in since I haven't heard back. I might try Akron Institute and at least get my Associates degree, and do an online ADN-BSN later on...

I really don't know what I am going to do... The thing that bugs me is most of the ADN programs are 2 years whereas a accelerated BSN is less than that with a actual BSN!! I'm going to try and meet with an advisor and see what I could do to better improve my chances and probably apply again. I really don't know what I could do different though. The whole process is so arbitrary anyway.

Oh I know! It bothers me to think about taking the time/money to do a ADN program when there are accelerated ones out there. The 2 yr program at Akron Institute will cost about $27,000! Sigh.

But my undergrad GPA wasnt' all that great, so maybe that's what kept me out.

How did you get an advisor? That'd be nice to have someone to ask questions, I need to look into getting one.

I don't have one yet but I am going to try and talk to someone. I'll let you know who when I get one and maybe you can use that person too.

Thanks, I've just been emailing the senior secretary with all my questions, but she doesn't seem to mind.

I got in!!!!! Apparently my acceptance email got kicked back on Friday and they didn't even know it. Yesterday I got a follow up letter implying that I had got in which I thought was a mistake email. I emailed back questioning it and they said that I was in. For all who didn't get in...since I am in now I will try and find out what it takes to get in and post what I find out.

I want to wish you all GOOD LUCK!!!

I just started the program in january and I can tell you this.......if you get in, get prepared for a wild ride the first semester!

p.s. I haven't heard anything about when acceptance emails/letters are sent out.

Any idea when the summer semester starts?

Gatz

I would guess in May but check the KSU CON website - it should give a breakdown
