Good College to get your BSN around Columbus, Oh

U.S.A. Ohio

Does anyone have a recommendation on a good university to get your BSN in Nursing? I have heard a lot about Mt. Carmel, OSU, and Otterbein - good and bad. Need someone's advice that has been through the programs or knows someone. It is hard to choose when all the school gives you is the good stuff, need the actual truth from previous or current students. Thanks! :balloons:

Specializes in PICU, SICU,MICU.

My friend graduated from Mt. Carmel and is a wonderful RN. Was very well prepared. It is a bit expensive! All Mt carmel Rn's have impressed me. I graduated from OSU, and feel overall I had a very solid education and good clinical experience. Lot of people go to Columbus State and have hospital pay for them to obtain BSN in nursing. I really have nothing bad to say about any programs. I worked in Columbus for several years with excellent nurses.

Mt. Carmel is CRAAAAAAZY expensive. Columbus State does not offer a BSN program of any kind, but I think it may act as a satellite to direct you to RN to BSN programs at Otterbein, OSU, and some tech school. Thumbs up all around to the OSU College of Nursing -- however this is EXTREMELY hard to get into. Your GPA, scores, etc. have to be pretty close to perfect. I have friends who have near-4.0 GPAs and are honors students who have been rejected and either have had to reapply or contest it.

I know some girls who did not get into OSU and instead went to Mt. Carmel. It's a good choice, though you'll have to be prepared to take out massive loans or at least have well-to-do family or large financial reserves or your own.

:paw: :paw: ;) from what i have seen a lot of credits from cscc will not transfer to osu. at osu you have to write a lot of papers in nursing school. mt. carmel will not even talk to people right now. they keep saying they will call back, and they never do. they are also full until fall of 2007, and they do not like transfer students. have not heard a lot otterbein college. i know they are expensive, and that is about it. i am hoping to hear the good, bad, and ugly about all schools to try to make a better decision. if you want your associates - cscc is a great program! if you want your bsn, that is the hard part to decide where to go.

Credits from CSCC to OSU for nursing or just general credits?

the general credits don't always transfer from cscc to osu. there is a link on the cscc website that takes you to the site that tells you what will transfer over, and it's not very big at all. otterbein will transfer over a lot more, and mt. carmel only has a few. i checked out otterbein and they gave me a full 2 yrs worth of prerequistes to take at cscc that will transfer over to them. mt. carmel will not even call me back no matter how many times i have called. i just keep trying to talk to someone. it was rumored that riverside hospital was going to get their own nursing program together, but i think that is all it was - a rumor.

if you remember where it is, could you dig that link up? I've been looking for one of those sites FOREVER. One of my advisers at OSU gave me a link to one of those credit transfer sites and heck if I know where I put it.

Obviously not everything will transfer, but most GECs do.

this is the one i found for cscc site:

http://www.cscc.edu/docs/artsscience/six.htm

hope this helps you!

Thanks! Actually I'm having some issues navigating that. (maybe I'm a moron -- it's a possibility)

I'll have to get the link from my adviser again. You could see what credits would transfer from any college to any college.

let me see if i can help you:

if you want to see what will transfer from cscc to otterbein then use this link: http://www.otterbein.edu/academics/registrar/transferring/columbus_state/academic_dept_list.asp

just click on what department you would like to see, example would be 'what chemistry class from cscc will transfer to otterbein" just lick on "chemistry"

for ohio state it is in pdf format so you can just read it about their transfer credits from cscc to osu. use this link:

http://www.cscc.edu/docs/artsscience/pdf/osuas.pdf

still could use some good advice for different bsn programs in columbus, ohio. does anyone know of a listing on the internet for the top accreditied bsn programs? mt. carmel states they are fourth, so what is one, two, and three?

:balloons: has anyone known of a person that has gone through the "accelerated program" at mt. carnel school of nursing? it appears that first summer would be pretty tough.
