EEK! I got home from running some errands today, and see that I have an Official Jury Summons for the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court... has anyone gotten this summons before, and not had to do Jury duty d/t your job?

I know my work is going to have a cow! I was supposed to show up on 1/2/08, but I postponed it until 2/4/08 to give my job plenty of forewarning.....

For those that have served, how awful is it?? I'm not looking forward to it at all!!

I got called for jury duty once and I'm 49. You can't get out of it to save your soul. Your best bet is let your employer know as soon as possible and hope for the best. My hospital has a program to deal with jury duty that is fairly complicated. It involves partial or changing shifts, daily phone calls, modified assignments..

yada-yada-yada. Your employer I'm sure has delt with this issue many times and has a plan. As far as "how awful was it". It was one of the worst 2weeks of my life. I still have nightmares about it and that was 5 years ago. I have also known people who loved it and found it facinating. It all depends on if you get placed on a jury, the case, your fellow jurors... Let us know how it goes!

I've heard of people getting out of jury duty... Some people called/wrote and said they no longer live in the county..I'm sure jury duty isn't that bad. I've never been asked, but hopefully for you it's a "minor" crime and not a murder or something. :(
