How many OHN's are on these board?

The core manaual for occupation health would provide you with an overview of expectations. Look for some protocols and/or directives also, they will let you know what you will be expected to perform.
Occ health seems to be an "insiders occupation", that is, you usually need to have an inside connection to get started, but once your in, you are usually good to go.

Is Occupational Health the same thing as Occupational Therapy? Or similar to it?

I went online to two different libraries in my area and tried finding books with "Occupational Health" in the subject line, and nothing came up.

It is the Occ Health core curriculum, I purchased mine through amazon. It gives a broad overview of the practice. I would expect that you would be doing basic first aid, reporting work comp issues, UDS, and blood draws for physicals, audio, eyes, hearing, ect. I guess that is what I like about it, it is broad in scope and independent in practice.

Well, I had the interview yesterday. I'm pretty sure I bombed it, but you never know.

I sure think it would be a good field for me to start nursing in. The office that is hiring shares it's space with internal medicine, and the LPN position would cover both areas (when needed). Sounds like I would be able to learn a lot!

How is the support from your hospital? It can definitely be an advantage having thier resources. However, they can also overload you with additional tasking. Being a sole RN in the OH department there, what services do you provide to what type of industry?

Our OHC has a medical director, PT ,who sees Bureau Worker's Compensation patients in the clinic 2 days a week. Work with businesses in keeping them informed of their employee's treatment plan, ordering further testing, etc.

We are a certified drug screen collection facility as well as performing Breath Alcohol testing.

We work with various certified laboratories all over the country.

Random
Pre employment
Court ordered
Children Services ordered
Outpatient rehab services located in same building.
Area industry varies from truck drivers, Clothing stores, grinding companies, office supply companies.
We do DOT, back exams, and basic pre employment physicals
Annual audiology exams
I visit area businesses for BBP education yearly
We offer flu vaccines yearly and go onsite to give
Involved in Health Fairs and first aide training
Involved in county wide educational programs as asked

Complete approx. 380 PPD's for hospital employees
"Keeper of the records".

The main campus is right next door to our building. HVCH is an amazing place to work! The support mechanism in place is one of the best... from the staff in medical records, ED, and radiology...all supply us with the necessary paperwork to treat our patients as well as a great support mechanism from our Leadership Team. Working on my 20th year.....that says a bunch!

Our goal is to track an injured worker process in which all aspects of an injured worker's treatment is monitored and evaluated from the time of initial treatment to the day they are declared medically stable or returned to full duty.

I know Ive only mentioned about 1/2 of what we do.

Lots of people dont know about the big UAB...haha. I am from Alabama and UAB is well known there. Seriously, I am a EH nurse for approx. 2100 employee. My job deals with all aspects of an employees medical. From work related injurys to clearing from non work related issues involving physical or potential communicable illness before they can return to work. I also work as case manager for all injuried employees as well as infection control for employees......along with doing physicals for employment, court hearing for work comp., annual TB, annual flu vac. Put it this way, if it deals with an employees health....they come through me. Busy? But I love it majority of time...and yes it is time consuminggggggggggg. I got a part time assistant 1 1/2 years ago so there is a Santa Claus. Good luck
