Well I am finally going to L&D I have been an antepartum nurse in a tertiary care center for 5 years and my transfer number finally came up. I'll be working 12 hour days any advice from anyone out there? It is just a big change from trying to keep babies in to yes they can come out now.

Yep big change. As a gal who trained in ALL areas---LDRP out of school, I Have to say, I think you did it the smart way.

Just do what you did in MB....be a sponge, eyes and ears open and learn from those whose style you admire. Ask tons of questions...make sure you get lots of FHM training----it's such a huge part of what we do.

GOOD LUCK!!! IF you have any specific questions, be sure and ask. There are a lot of experienced folks here to "show you the way"! Congratulations to ya!

Electric fetal monitoring nothing new. I do it all the time. The problem is seeing contractions and not wanting to do something to stop them! They are allowed to contract. Well it will take a little bit but I am excited for the challange

You are just going to learn a whole new set of skills. I would assume; having been on antepartum, that you are at least familiar with fetal monitoring. That's a huge chunk of knowledge right there!! You are well ahead of the game compared to others going to L&D for the first time.

Hang in there. Get your neonatal resuscitation out of the way and just take it one labor at a time. You'll love it!
