If so, what does she do?

Specializes in L&D/Maternity nursing.

Updates policy and procedure and educates staff when updated (makes sure they reflect ebp/best practice). Runs skills days. Ensures that all staff are up to date on unit based competencies and certifications. Steps in as charge nurse or takes an assignment when we're slammed. Is the recorder when we have resuscitation or codes. That's just naming a few things ours does for us.

Specializes in OB.

Same as above, with the exception of stepping in as charge/taking an assignment. She also NRP-certified us.

Specializes in Med/Surg, LDRP.

We do have a full time nurse educator. She does all stated above. She does not do any bedside nursing, she retired from bedside due to injury so she is now unable to pass the physical required of our bedside nurses. She has 25+ years of experience in the area and is a huge source of information and support!

Specializes in Maternity.

Pretty much reflected my job description when I was Practice Facilitator, now I'm less involved with the updates and continuing education and more focused on the newly qualified staff and helping them through their preceptorship period.
