Advice for midwife/whnp

Hello,

Im currently enrolled in a BSN program in my final year. I'm precepting on a labor and delivery floor and absolutely love it! I'm interested in becoming a nurse midwife or women's health nurse practitioner. However I have a mild essential tremor and was wondering if that would hold me back in those areas? It was very tough during nursing school from people noticing it and saying mean things, but I've managed to make it work and the more confident I get, the less the tremor happens. If anyone one who's a nurse midwife or whnp could give some input on what to do here? Anything you guys do that couldn't be done with a mild tremor?

Is the tremor in your dominant hand? My first thoughts are about lady partsl exams and suturing after a delivery---it might be quite difficult.

I'm not giving medical advice, but I've heard of calcium channel blockers (or is it beta blockers?) used for tremor. Maybe talk to your PCP about that.

My teenage daughter has a pretty significant tremor, and she wants to be an RN someday. I have wondered how that will work for her for things like starting IVs.
