UK Visit Visa

Hello!

I was recently invited by my Aunt to visit her in the UK to support her while she undergo recuperation from cancer. I will be going with a family visit visa and it might be for a couple of months.

By suggestions from some of my friends, I became interested in getting interviews for possible employers in the UK when I get there. I am told that I cannot work while I am on Visit Visa but I can certainly do interviews.

Now here comes my questions: Do you think that this is a worthy pursuit? I imagine that I'll have some time to send applications and do interviews while I am there. Will there be employers willing to accept applicants on visit visa? If I do get an offer, I understand that I will have to come back to my home country. Is it common for visit visa holders to look for jobs in the UK and convince employers to sponsor their trip back if they do want them in their facility?

I am currently doing my master's degree, so there is also that consideration. If I do get a job, I'll have to hold it back, cancel, or continue it in the UK.

Nonetheless, my primary objective is to be a major instrument to my aunt's healing process. The opportunity of getting to UK would be once in a lifetime, so I would also like to consider that fact and try to get something out of it...if my God allows it. :)

I am a registered nurse in my country with 4 years of experience. I do consider getting registered with NMC if given a chance. Moreover, I am willing to do any kind of job as long as it gets me a working visa--which would later give me the opportunity of getting registered with NMC.

Any insights / criticisms with my current dilemma is very welcome.

The difficulty here is not many UK nurses will understand coming in with a visa and what is allowed and not allowed.

Application with the NMC as a overseas applicant can be long and time consuming. There are 2 parts one a computer exam and then a practical. One one university at the moment is allowed to hold the practical exam. To get a working visa I suggest checking out Borders UK website as all information will be there. Getting a work visa will not help your NMC application but at least you have 4 years experience which only 12 months full time experience is required by the NMC

I understand it is a tedious process and so I am willing to accept nursing related jobs which do not require NMC registration. Perhaps, being a carer? My biggest concern really is if employers are willing to entertain applicants who are on Visit Visa and if they can be bothered sponsoring me back to the UK when they decide I am fit for a position.

I am sure you will have the same opportunities as if living outside the UK as long as you have met NMC requirements and get a PIN from them which allows you to work as a RN

In all honesty, as an employer I wouldn't consider you for interview unless you had the requirements to work in the UK, and if you look at most job minimum specifications state registered nurse as a requirement so you won't be shortlistable unless you have UK registration.

But I see the OP mentioned sponsoring once decided to be fit to be a nurse so read that as having met NMC requirements and then look for a employer whilst in the UK
