UK shortage of nurses! Is it true?

Hi!

The reason I'm writing is that I'd like to get some information about what is the situation like in UK as a foreign trained nurse.

I have a BSC degree from nursing and I have relevant three year experience as an ER/ICU nurse.

I'm from a country which is member of the EEA so I think my degree lives up for the UK standards.

I've already checked the process of the NHS registration and it doesen't seem so difficult.

I'm really thinking about move to UK but I have doubts. I read a lots of article about nursing shortage everywhere in UK.

Is it true?

Is it easy to get a job?

I want to work in the critical/emergency area.

So is there a real shortage of nurses in UK? Or is it another rumor which is spread by the media like in the USA?

Some places in the UK will be hard to find a job and others will be easy. Suggest checking NHSjobs website out

An agency that I've been speaking to said that if you are ICU trained you can work almost anywhere you want and if you just want emergency there will be jobs but maybe not as large a selection. They were referring to temporary work, I'm not sure what the deal is for permanent positions if that is what you are looking for.

I think they are suffering from nursing shortage. Several agencies from United Kingdom already came to my country to recruit for their respective hospitals. You have an advantage because you have an experience in ICU. :)
