SIM Lab Help

I don't know why I always struggle so much with Simulations - I think it's because there's so many of us working with SIM and I get confused with what I am supposed to be doing. I also feel a lack of confidence in this setting. Does anyone have any tips on how to prepare or what strategy to take? Our topic is "drug overdose." We don't have any other info yet...

In the past, I've prepared my nursing interventions ahead of time but I still seem to stand there with a dumb look on my face when the action starts... So I'd really appreciate some advice to avoid this embarrassment again!

1) Read up on the simulated condition to be demonstrated

2) Discuss it with classmates over coffee, with the book handy-- what do you think you should look for, what might cause probably findings, what should you expect to see done?

3) Talk some more. The more you are comfortable with the material, can visualize it in your head before you walk in the door, the less it will throw you for a loop when you arrive.

I'm having the same problem. I am AWFUL in sim lab. Too many people, to unfamiliar of a scenario and just bleh. Clinicals are no big deal, lectures are fine, but Sim lab...UGH. I waked in today as the primary nurse and I didn't remember to do anything.
