Questions about Mental Health.

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I am almost done with Fundamentals and Starting Med Surg and Pharmacology. I'm not too worried about those classes, but I'm getting anxious about the term after, which is Mental Health. Anyone know any good resources I can use to study for Mental Health? Thank You :)

Specializes in ICU, ED, cardiac, surgery, cath lab..

I used Review & Rationales Mental Health Nursing review book and Psych/Mental Health Success. They're pretty good and the latter book is mainly practice questions.

That was one of my easiest classes! Don't stress about it and its so long away :)

Yeah, Most classes that are considered easy in other schools are known as "hard classes" in my school. LOL

Terms at my school are 9 weeks, so it is not that farr away :o :p

I'm excited though! Can't wait to do clincial there :)

Thank You. I will make sure I purchase it! :)

Specializes in L&D.

Im in Mental Health now. I will say, it hasn't been easy, but I've done well(2 high B's on the first 2 test, a high A on the 3rd and a 100% on the ATI Mental Health test). We really have focused on a lot of drugs/side effects (EPS, tardive dyskinesia, akithesia, lithium toxicity were a couple biggies that I remember right off hand, oo serotonin syndrome)....A lot of our tests have been about therapeutic communication, identifying the disorders, etc. it really hasn't been too bad! and yes 2 of those side effects are probably spelled wrong...I am not good with those 2 words lol!

I still think you may be worrying withhout need. My school is not easy by far. I'm a senior student and this was by far the easiest class I've had so far. The hardest part for most was the pharm but if you did okay with pharm then even better.

I know I keep listening to other people, and I do fine. I should stop listening to others.

I HATE ATI...... -____-

Our mental health was a 10 week summer unit combined with advanced med-surg. We did six weeks of mental health, five weeks of mental health clinicals, and four weeks of advanced med-surg in class. The mental health portion was by far the easiest thing I've done in nursing school, and I graduate in about 8 months. You really don't have anything to worry about.

I know! We have ATI too and that semester we had to take ATI med-surg, mental health, and OB! We had then all the first half of a week tehn teh second half of the week we had our course finals as well.

How did you study for ATI? I'm taking my first one next term. :/
