Medical Terminology quiz preparation

I just found out last week that I was accepted into the nursing program at Hagerstown Community College. I am super excited but am quite nervous. I am supposed to take a medical terminology quiz and must pass with a 75 percent in order to stay in the program. I only get one try to pass. I am currently a pharmacy tech so I am familiar with sig codes on rx's but I am in the dark on everything else. I was told to get a book called Medical Terminology: A Short Course but my problem is that I must have this quiz taken by Aug 15th! Has anybody gone to Hagerstown Community College for nursing that could maybe give any advice? Am I freaking out too soon?

Your school didn't offer you a study guide or practice questions of any sort? I'm also located in Maryland at Towson University *waves* and while we have to pass a medication dosage exam at the beginning of each course, our instructors offer us guidelines and practice questions. I can't imagine them testing you on the first day of class and not telling you exactly what to study. Maybe you should try posting on the Maryland Nursing forum here (Region --> United States --> Maryland Nurses) to see if anyone there can offer more information. Good luck with the terminology. I'm sure with your experience and a good book you'll probably be fine. 75% isn't that high of a mark. We have to pass with a 90% on our dosage exams (we have 2 tries) or we're kicked out of the program. Happy studying!

Thanks Dolcebellaluna! I did ask the receptionist fromt the nursing dept. and she just told me to review that med. terminology book. That was the best answer I could get. I will try posting in MD Nurses forum, maybe I will get lucky and meet somebody who has or will attend my school that might be able to give me a better idea of what to study. I hope I can do this in the time frame that I was given. I was a late admit to the program so I feel like I am rushing around to get all this stuff done last minute.
