Ok maybe my break was a little too long because I don't get this problem....

Question

Tylenol tabs iii are ordered. The tablets are labeled 325mg/tablet. How many tablets do you give?

Answer

The answer is 3 tablets but I don't get it. This problem came from a study guide we were given to prepare for our math test on the first day back, so it is possible that the answer is wrong. Can someone help?

i dont think this is a calculation problem, but a hmmm symbols recognition problem?,,iii is the symbol for three.

"i" is the roman numeral for 1 so "iii" means 3 tablets. It is just a conversion problem to see if you can convert the apothecary symbol to modern equivalent.

Thanks, I thought about the iii meaning 3, but what threw me off was the supply dose 325mg/tablet being in the problem. So basically all I needed to do was disregard the supply dose and just count the roman numeral.

yes, if the problem doesn't have the mg in the Dr order it's extra info!

Specializes in ER, ICU, anticoagulation mgmt.

Yes, just a trick question...

Don't you hate those! :twocents:
