Fluid and electrolyte help

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

I was just wondering if anyone knew a good website that broke down electrolyte functions in the body? I have my midterm on it on Thursday, and I get the main ones (aka sodium, potassium) and why they have the manifestations they do, but our teacher ran out of time to go over the less important ones. Also if anyone knows a website with good review questions for it, I would greatly appreciate it. I've already heard this test is going to be insane, so as much as I can get out of my studying the better.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

there are only 6 main electrolytes: potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium, phosphate and chloride. you can link into information about them on post #22 of this sticky thread: https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pathophysiology-p-microbiology-145201.html - pathophysiology/ a & p/ microbiology/ fluid & electrolyte resources

i have posted information in the past on these electrolytes:

I also took Daytonite's advice and picked up Fluid and Electrolyte Balance: Nursing Considerations by Norma Metheny. I think its very good information and helps promote assessment of the patient as a whole, not just in parts (at least for me).

Good luck!
