DVT and low blood counts?

I'm working on my patient's lab work and trying to figure out something...

my pt had a R leg DVT... His RBC, hct and hgb levels are all low. I can't find any reasons why this is so. He doesn't have any other diseases or disorders, only the DVT. He's an otherwise healthy 36 yr old male. No family HX. Am I missing the obvious? Can someone point me in a specific direction in case it's right in front of my nose? LOL I usually don't have any trouble figuring out my pt's labs and reasoning. Thanks for any help. :)

when all red blood counts are decreased, it 'sounds' like bone marrow suppression.

but you state that pt is otherwise healthy...

w/many hematologic disorders, dvt is an actual risk.

if platelets are low, md may have passed on heparin/lovonex tx?

hopefully, they're doing more testing on him.

best of everything.

I'm so very curious about how this patient is doing now, a week later. I keep seeing info that leads to possible cancers, etc... he was having lower back pain for two days leading up to the DVT. I keep wondering if he possibly has a tumor. I'm sure they were running further tests on him - I had him on his second day in the hospital. Thanks for your reply!
