Drug Cards

Nursing Students Student Assist

Published

So quick history... I only have 2 classes left before my role transition and I have a 3.5 GPA, so I do know how to study at this point, and yes, I do understand the logic behind the assignment...

My OB professor has assigned us to have drug cards on approximately 50 different medications due on the day of our first clinical in OB. She did provide the option for us to purchase the drug cards instead of creating them from scratch (however, the learning aspect of the assignment would be lessened). I have Micromedex on my phone and have been using that when I need to look something up. I frankly do not have the time to create these cards myself; time that could be used actually reading the textbook (I know, I'm one of those people that actually reads the textbook...).

So, drug cards for nurses. Recommendations, suggestions, because the variety out there is mind boggling.

Thanks.

I always did a chart-type paper with meds. I had the med names, classes, normal dose, my responsibilities, side effects, important interactions, push time (if applicable). I liked having all the meds on a sheet which I could fold in half and stick in my pocket. I just printed off blank copies of the chart and filled them in...for all of my clinicals. We also had meds to do prior to OB, along with a bunch of other paperwork (I don't recall offhand what all of it was, but I do know we had a bunch of stuff for stages of labor, lady partsl vs cesarean, newborn care, mom care, and a pluthera of other stuff.) I wrote out every med I ever gave in clinicals. I, too, read the textbook readings. In my opinion, meds are too important to skimp on. Good luck! :)
