Deficient Knowledge- NANDA

Hello-

I am writing a teaching plan. I am going to teach a 16 year old girl just treated with basal cell carcinoma. She indicates that she did not know the she could get skin cancer from tanning beds and she did not know that she needed to use in kind of sunscreen etc.

I have come up with the following NANDA dx:

Deficient Knowledge (skin cancer) related to lack of information about skin cancer and skin cancer prevention AEB by verbalizing of not knowing the risk factors of skin cancer

Is that right? It sounds a bit too wordy for me.

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Thanks so much for your quick response! I really appreciate it!

NANDA is the devil!!! no, really. i always struggle with the nursing diagnosis. im sure it will come with time. just really hard when i lack confidence in what im talking about. that sounds ok tho, what you have so far. although i find it hard to believe that someone priveledged enough to have access to a tanning bed could be that ignorant. ahhh *sighs* what do we do with ppl who slip through that many cracks?
