I have not started the nursing program yet, but I wanted to become familiar with skills such as bed making and cleaning up bodily fluids. Does anyone know of videos or websites that go over these skills? Thanks.

Have you considered going to a nurse aid traning program? The one I took only was 2 weeks, and they taught all of that, and it REALLY helped all during nursing school. Also, you can get it paid for by some nursing homes, and most dont even make you work there afterwards!

I do not have a problem with this suggestion personally. However, none of those resources are offered in my community at this time. I begin nursing this January. :D

Hopefully bedmaking is the same style as we did in basic training if so I got a website you can go to. I remember them saying it was also the same style of making hospital bed and hotels with two flat sheets. Practice by taking two flat sheets. Fold the edge up to a 45 degree angle like a triangle, put your hand in there and tuck and get it tight! If the edge looks like a triangle your good.

http://lib2.hacc.edu/nursing/nursing104/ - from harrisburg area community college more videos of nursing procedures. this site includes links to videos on bandaging, bedmaking, enemas, iv therapy, medication administration (most all routes of administration are addressed), ng tubes, nursing skills (sterile gloving and dressing, dressing change, straight catheterization, indwelling catheter and rom), physical assessment and positioning

a place you can also check is in your nursing school's library. many times a nursing school puts nursing procedure videos on reserve in their school libraries for the nursing students to have access to because they are expensive and they don't want them "walking away". sometimes these materials are specifically kept in the nursing labs. talk with the school librarians because they often require a student id in order to access them. sometimes they are online and you can access them from your home with your student id as your password. something else you can do is find someone who is already in nursing classes and ask how you can access the school nursing procedure videos and see if they will give you the access pins and passwords.

Thanks, everyone!!! :D
