"Handbook of Nursing Diagnosis" by Carpenito. (Now Carpenito-Moyet)

Worked really well, with lists of problems/symptoms and suggested interventions with rationales and expected outcomes.

The most in-depth and involved was Patient Care Standards

but the Standards book was much more involved/detailed - the more 'down and dirty' (in my opinion) was the 1st book.

Hi there! I have an awesome book that I use all the time. It has nursing diagnoses and interventions and rationales. I love it! "Nursing Diagnosis Handbook: A guide to planning care" by Ackley and Ladwig. I have the 6th ed.

I love the book MLOS recommends ("Nurse's Pocket Guide: Diagnoses, Interventions, and Rationales" ISBN 0-8036-1179-X). It is short, sweet, and to the point! I use if often, when I am grading my students' care plans.

Of course, instructors' expectations vary from nursing program to nursing program, so I would advise you to check with your nursing instructor first as to which NANDA book he/she recommends :) Also, be careful that your NANDA resources are up to date and the diagnoses are current--ND tend to change ever so subtly every two years or so. An example of this is "Deficient Knowledge" now as opposed to the "Knowledge Deficit" nursing diagnosis of a few years ago.

If you pay the shipping you can have mine. I can't remember how much I paid for it, but I'm sure it would cost you more that UPS ground to have it sent. Nursing Diagnosis Reference Manual 5th Ed by Sparks and Taylor is a lifesaver. Although now that I have graduated it is more handy for curing insomnia.
