Safety goggles

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Does anyone wear safety goggles at work just in general, all the time and not just for special procedures?

I'm a new-grad recently hired onto a psych unit for the county, just for a bit of context. I had some close calls with fluids getting splashed near my eyes in nursing school, and since then I've been a little paranoid about it as I've always had this fear of eye injuries.

Anyways, I was planning to wear a comfortable pair of safety glasses to work to wear just all the time. Is there any reason not to do this? I can't really think of any.

I wear glasses, not contacts, at work for that reason and have had the odd near miss. A lot of goggles aren't comfortable if worn for a really long time so be really sure you like the fit of any you plan to wear full time, and be prepared for a bit of teasing and the odd remark. That said, I can't see any reason why you couldn't.

Keep us posted :)

Yeah, I was thinking something like these:

Not really goggles so much as safety -glasses- I guess.

And yeah, I'm sure I'd get some comments but that doesn't really bother me! :)

I am another nurse who purposely wears glasses rather than contacts for that reason -- they don't provide the protection of safety goggles, but they provide a heckuva lot more protection than nothing at all. :)
