Need shoe advice

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

Hi, I just recieved a list from my prof for clinical lab saying we need dark colored, closed toed shoes and we cannot have crocs. My feet are slightly wide but not too bad. I don't mind spending $ on good shoes but there are so many choices and I know that next semester we have to purchase all white shoes so I need to be reasonable. Does anyone have any good suggesstions. Oh yeah, I like a full back because we get a ton of snow here in upper Mi and I hate wet feet. I was kind of looking at the Profi medical clogs by Birkis?? on allheart.com

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think it's very nice of your program to require you to purchase more than one pair of shoes because they want you to change color.

However I can tell you that most uniform supply stores have their shoes in different colors which is nice. Always ask about a student discount. Now, do they want the dark colors so that if you visit non-hospital areas you'll have good professional shoes to go with something other than whites? If that's the case you might get away with something cheaper from a normal shoe store for the darker shoes. A word of caution though, if it's for something like a psych rotation, or for wearing to hospital to look up your charts the day before clinical, nursing shoes in whatever dark color might be better. I didn't buy special shoes (read: expensive) for that sort of thing and what I had, was not comfortable. You can't bank on sitting much, or at all.

I am not exactly sure what a clinical lab entails... I just know that it is the lab that goes with one of my classes. I think either health appraisal or intro to nursing. I don't think we start clinicals in the hospitals until the following semester. Thanks for your help. I too agree that we shouldn't have to buy 2 pair of shoes but that is the way the ball bounces I guess.

I have to purchase all white shoes w/a back (no mules!). I am having trouble finding them on ebay, my usual shoe go to. Any suggestions?
