Extremely Sore Feet!! HELP

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Published

I have tried so many nursing and tennis shoes to try and alleviate my extremely sore feet. I am limping by hour 8 and can hardly walk out after my shifts. I have gotten many recommendations but nothing seems to help.

I have tried dansko, sketchers, alegria, nike, and asic running shoes. Im tried of spending so much money on shoes. But NOTHING seems to help and I have no idea what to do. If theres anyone else out there with feet that can't seem to handle 12 hour shifts who has found a shoe that works please help me out here!

If your feet are hurting that much, it may not be the shoes but the fit. I have wide feet and an "off the shelf" shoe will never fit me. I see others with their feet crammed into ill-fitting shoes all the time and it makes me so sad!

If you have a Fleet Feet or other running store in your area, I'd get them to give you a good fit analysis.

Maybe look for an actual RUNNING shoe store? NOT just a store in the mall or wherever, an actual running store that caters to serious runners. They can take a look at how you walk/run and give you advice on which shoes would be better for your situation. And going to a podiatrist isn't a bad idea either.

(BTW even if the shoe LOOKS the same - the cheaper stores like Kohls etc have 'factory seconds'. Aside from having minor issues with stitching that probably wouldn't affect your feet, they'll also use 2nd/3rd run insole support. Which means that after the insole material is made and the first batch of insoles are cut, they grind it up and glue it back together before they cut a 2nd run or a 3rd run. That makes the insole substandard quality.)

I've seen ads for a sneaker called xerogravity, they look comfy and have the springs in the heels but are $120.

I swear by Naturalizer's work shoes. They look like Danskos but have memory foam, cloud like bottoms. Go to their website and read the reviews, they speak for themselves! They also look really nice, honestly sometimes I wear them when I am not at work!

Vionic!! I'm overweight and have all the joint pain that goes along with that. Plus I've had an injury to my left ACL and meniscus, followed by surgery. I frequently have pain in the left knee. Vionics are the only shoes I wear. There are a little bit more expensive, but they definitely work to prevent foot, ankle, knee, and other joint pain. If you don't want to buy the entire shoe, they do have inserts or insoles that you could put into your regular shoes.
