Puerto Rico Nursing Program Questions for Past, Current, and Future Students

World US Territories

Published

Hello! I was wondering if anyone in either of the two main nursing programs in Puerto Rico (Umet and Inter), can enlighten me as to how the application-acceptance process works. I sent in my transcripts and all required documents, however, I was wondering if I still have to send an additional transcript after my current term is finished, and how long it takes for them to notify you of their decision. They are both darn near impossible to contact...I also heard, that some people did not get an acceptance letter in the mail, so they traveled down to handle the admissions process in person. When do you need to register by, and what was your experience with getting admitted to/and attending either of these schools? Any recommendations?

I applied to the english program at the UMET Bayamón campus, and Interamericana's english program located at their Metro campus.

Also, I'm traveling down to Puerto Rico on June 18th to visit the schools, and attempt to find housing. Is anyone looking for a roommate starting in July or August? Both english nursing programs begin in August, so I need to find housing before then (if I get in-fingers crossed). Are there any areas you would recommend living in that don't require a long commute to campus, or are in walking distance? I have yet to look into buying a car.

I would love to make friends before I start the program, because I don't know anyone in Puerto Rico :)

Thanks!!

hey,

I am in the middle of the same exact process. sent my applications and transcripts to UMET and Inter. Same exact questions in my mind, i will be calling them tomorrow to get more clarifications. The dean at UMET said she has my transcript but is busy with finals to go over it yet. I will still be giving her a call this week to check on how many years i would be doing at UMET in comparison to INTER, that is my deciding factor.

I wasnt planning on going down and turning it all my information in person by the way. But, i am considering it since i need a place, possible car, etc. I read the 130 pages thread about INTER and took extensive notes. But, when i called them i did get a lot of answers from the girl who spoke, she came across as very laid back and said i will most likely get into the accelerated program (i dont have my bachelors but most GEs done), and she said even if i didnt get in accelerated, i can probably catch up.

Will know more this week, please update me with your progress too.

hi,

I am starting in August i have already been accepted into the program

and have my classes already! I went in March and took my transcripts, you can

register for classes up until the day before the 1st day of classes which is August 20. I will be there

on August 7 to look for housing and the director of nursing at umet can direct you to the real estate

agent that can help you look for housing and she knows what is close to campus and the train. I am not

buying a car, so I need to be close to the train. Good luck with everything, you can email me [email protected].

Hello, my boyfriend and I are also looking for housing and will be coming mid- july. Please email me somehow at [email protected]
