I am currently attending a nursing program. I have completed 3/6 terms, but those terms included pre reqs as well as nursing classes. So far the nursing classes I have completed are Foundations which is 240 hours (I guess this includes classroom and clinical hours), Pharmacology I and Med Surg I (180 hours). I think I am just shy of 50% of my clinical hours....

It sounds like you have enough but the best way to find out it spend the $75 and send in your application. They will evaluate your transcripts and let you know.

I would say yes, but of course the only way to find out is to apply.

I am going to have to be the minorty and say no. One of my friends didn't get the semesters of pre-requisites counted as part of the program so he fell shy of the half of the clinicals requirement based on those semesters. I would see how many total clinical hours your program has and then subtract the clinical hours to see if you are even close. If you are close I would apply and take your chances if you aren't then I wouldn't advise sending them money you won't get back.

Just my input on the situation.

I agree with you MsPC! I am also from a traditional nursing program. I failed in my last semester by less than a point. Inorder to qualify for EC you need to have completed 50% or more of the clinical component. All colleges show the total amount of clinical hours per semester per course in their catalog. To find out if you qualify add up all the clinical hours for the nursing courses to see if you have completed 50% or more. Your prerequisite courses and nursing theory hours are NOT part of the qualifying hours. Most ADN nursing programs are only 2yrs consisting of 4 semesters therefore completion of 2 - nursing semester would PROBABLY qualify you BUT the last word is definitely with EC. Good Luck! Be careful if you call EC to find out because sometimes they don't give out accurate info and since each program if different they may tell you something that is not exactly true for your situation. The best approach is to APPLY but if you don't want to spend $75 and possible not eligible try to figure it out yourself! Good Luck!

Well, I spoke with EC and they advised me if I were even an hour short I would be turned down. Perhaps the easiest way in would be to take the Paramedic test and enroll?

I'm glad you got your answer. If you are eligible to take the nremt-p then that sounds like a viable option. If you are going to start school for a Paramedic class first you might find it easier to go back to a b&m school and then enroll or maybe find an LVN program. I'm not sure your situation so I don't have any sound advice for what would be "easiest" for your situation.
