Whew, I am finally almost done, just got to defeat this CPNE. Can't believe I have made it this far. I will apply next week when my finances allow me to do so :)

Way to go!!! almost there!! How long did it take you to get this far?? I'm just starting, although I feel like I have been in "school" forever!! Good luck on the CPNE!

I should probably ask now---what is this test??? A written form of the CPNE? Sort of a collaborative final??

CONGRATULATIONS! Now you're really gonna see what "stress and utter confusion" means, while preparing for the dreaded CPNE (lol). It's driving me nutts!

Well I started in 2008 but I had to stop due to a family emergency, I restarted in Oct of 09 and finished my last 4 nursing theory exams by Dec 09. You can find information about the FCCA on Excelsiors website to get a feel of what the test entails. PM me if you have any further questions or can't locate the info. And thanks for the encouragement.

congratulations!!!! i'm sure that's a great deal of stress off you ! i'm in the exact same boat as you, i put my application for the cpne in yesterday afternoon before coming to work. now the waiting game begins! i'm sure you'll use your time between now and the cpne to prep and you'll do fine!

good luck!!!:D

Me too!! It's an entire new level of insanity! I had to start blogging about it because I am not dealing well with the prep. I'm struggling big time with the labs! I have no idea why, it's all stuff I've done before. It's like my hand/eye coordination is deteriorating right before me!

LOL...I cannot get past the "20-minute check" I have attempted to study every single day. The labs go fine (except the wound). I just ordered the real one from someone b/c my play-dough scenario is just not working. I need to see the actual depth of the one we're going to use. Here's the thing: There are like 15 different scenarios to practice. I'm trying to figure a way to practice everything where one will flow into the other, so I can get in and out of the room w/pt; BUT if you have no idea which 6 you're going to get, it's crazy... I'm going to give it another shot today. I only have just over 3 weeks left, and I'm going in with NO WORKSHOP (crazy, I know; but I can't afford one) I had a nightmare last night that I got a patient on NG tube with 3 iv lines, a full leg cast and a ton of pressure ulcers. LOLOLOL...I woke up sweating, and my husband said: "this s*** is driving you crazy, I'll be glad when you're done." and just think HE's my biggest supporter (lololol)

hey! i see a couple of you guys are deep in the cpne study zone! so am i.......i have started doing the labs daily while working on care planning and trying to become familiar with the forms we will use! so is anyone using a grid or mneumonic? im tryn to get out here and do some networking with those preparing.....it helps to hear other study methods! glad i joined today! cya:) and congrads tiffany on finishing up! way to go!

also.....im not sure like what you mean.....about the 20 min check. i try and tell myself when i walk in the room im looking for anything that goes into the patient and anything that is coming out of the patient! lol i am using nmeumonics(like that is so a word i never spell the same twice!) lol and they help me stick to what i am looking for to complete the 20 min check! w-wash hand i -id self & patient b-band chech x3

g-gloves on i -iv site check p -pitch skin o-off gloves t-tubing check

d-drip rate s-solution(kind) f-fluids(expalin i/o's to patinet) thats what i am memorizing and using to get through the 20 min check....the only problem is i have tons and tons of information out beside each the things i listed here(like where to write what, etc) like i have got to cut back on some of it or i will confuse my own self! lol hope that helps! share what you are doing for your 20 min check....the more i hear the more i learn! thanks cya:)

For some reason, for the life of me, I cannot figure out the '20 minute check' thing. I have an appointment with a staff member for next Monday, and this is the first thing I want clarified. I understand that within the 'critical elements' some of them are timed, but I feel like this '20 minute check' thing has evolved from something other than the study guide. Hopefully I can get it figured out talking directly to the source because things are getting a little jumbly! I did get a good response on the EPN, but I want to make sure I've got everything covered and know where the heck this term came from!
