Dear All Nurses Community:

I am retired post 911 Veteran and currently work as a Medical Assistant for an Orthopedic group. I passed my NCLEX December 2014. I hold a Multi-State Practical Nurse License from Virginia however I have not worked in that capacity yet. I recently learned that my Post 911 benefits will expire by late 2018. I want to know if there is a good military friendly LPN--------->>RN program on line in which I can use those benefits without taking more tests and obtain my RN license?

In a word: No.

All LPN > RN programs require clinicals, and in order to become an RN you must pass tests, take additional coursework and of course pass the NCLEX.

The closest thing you might find is the LPN > ADN program at Excelsior. It is mostly online; however, some states will not allow you to be licensed with this degree. Additionally, you not having ever worked as an LPN might be a hindrance. Indiana State also has an LPN > BSN program mostly online.

I'm sorry this is such a negative post, but the situation is what it is.

You can use the post 911 benefits at any school, you just have to go through either their financial aid office or their VA office if they have one.

I used the post 911 benefits at 3 different schools and it was never an issue.
