Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

:welcome: Hello everyone! I am looking to get my ASN online. I will fly wherever, pay almost whatever to do it... I have all my pre-reqs done, have my MA, and have worked in a busy ED as a clerk/ float ACT/NA. I am willing to do just about anything... Will obtain license in another state & transfer to California, etc. Anybody have any advice? I just started looking into programs online, Chamberlain school of nursing (form deaconess) sounds promising... Anybody have any concrete advice? Does the California board allow you to test, or have recipriciocity with Missouri? I also looked at Maric's program in san diego (wherre I live) it's full time, 15 months for $40,000. But I have two small kids, and it is an hour or two away both ways in traffic...

Hopefull someone knows something... thanks

You really need to do some research before you sign on the dotted line. First, there is no such thing as reciprocity, states no longer have their own exam. Just one, the NCLEX.

And CA does not accept the completely on-line programs for the RN. In some states they will accept them if you have the LPN and are just doing a bridge program, but CA definitely will not accept it.

You have to meet the educational requirements of each state for licensure in that state, you are not able to just endorse from another state.

And if you look at the threads you will see quite a bit of mention of Excelsior, it is not accepted in CA either.

I suggest that you take a look at the community colleges in your area. All are going to have pre-reqs as requirements to get in, but you are much further ahead to make sure that you go to a program that is accpeted all over the US, you never want to limit yourself. It would be a much different story if you already had your LVN. You may also wish to look at that route and then doing a bridge program if that is easier for you to do.
