If anyone who is nervous about the CPNE, please feel free to email or even call me. I have done it. I can give lots of info, and I am an advocator for the program, regardless of all the harships I had to endure. Please let me know.

did you know I have been banned from every Excel Advantage/ Academy of Nursing site on yahoo???

NO FRICKIN' WAY!!!! WHAT A RIOT! See, I always knew I liked you. :chuckle

I think that's great that you have been working so hard!!! My opinion (do I share too much of these?) is that he only way to get through this program successfully is to be somewhat of an overachiever. If you aren't when you start it, you will somehow morph into one by the time you finish. I sure did.

And thanks for the English lesson. I seriously have always wondered that. (See, my brain is a giant turd.)

Chris,

Since you have been banned from the Yahoo! Groups, let me tell you what the big topic of discussion is about, because I am sure that you are DYING to know. -lol On the CPNE Discussion board, we keep getting messages from Rob Manager (Butner, Whoever....) about how it is illegal and a violation of Federal copyright laws to sell used study guides. Come on! Give me a break! That would mean that every college bookstore that sells used books, every used CD store, and used video game store would be shut down. Don't you think the textbook printers would stop used textbook sales if they legally could. Besides, how useful is a $300.00 study guide after you have already passed the test.

Rob (Whoever) is slowly taking over the moderator position of all the Excelsior Groups on Yahoo! That way he can keep plugging his CPNE Bootcamp. I have no problem with starting a profitable business that helps people pass the CPNE, but he does not need to be so sleazy about how he advertises it.

This is what I don't get either. Why doesn't this person just own up to supporting his own agenda. I think there would still be plenty of people in the group. It does seem shady and I really can't see why he needs to hide behind the groups.

It's funny that you mention the publishing thing because I was on the board the other day and saw "Rob's" postings about copyright laws. It gave me a good chuckle. :rotfl:

WHAT?!?!?!?!? He is taking over the Yahoo groups??????? Oh that just makes me SICK. Seriously. Damn I hate that guy. He was banned from many of the Yahoo boards back in the day, as were any other people who were from companies (like the RUE geniuses who posed as students). That is just so, so sad.

RUE gave me the same crap about it being illegal to resell study guides. They even threatened to have their lawyers call me. I told them to go ahead, and I brought up the same points that DC2RN said---- about how every single college bookstore sells used books (RUE said "that is a store--- that is different) and I said how colleges put up bulletin boards for students to resell materials. If it were illegal, publishing companies all over the world would be prowling EBay, half.com, etc. etc. etc. watching for people selling their books. That is just a big ol' load of $hit. Don't believe Rob or anyone else who tells you that you can't do that. We paid big bucks for their crappy materials. IT IS OURS TO DO WITH AS WE PLEASE. We can take it out in the yard and pee on it if we really want to because it is OURS.

Ok now this post is just getting insane. I am all crabby now. Sorry. Now I'm gonna get in trouble. :chair:

Believe it or not, he may have a point ... on copyright, that is. The recording industry has successfully sued used CD shops for doing same thing. Most publishers probably don't make a big deal out of college bookstores selling used books because they can't afford to alienate universities who they do business with. But, they probably could under copyright law, if they wanted to.

You can even violate copyright just by giving away material, like file sharing on the internet, even without selling it. Most people aren't aware of this, but the recording industry has successfully sued individuals for this as well. Just FYI.

Lizz,

You might be right, but you don't build a successful business by suing all of your customers. Especially in the age of the Internet and discussion boards, word would get out pretty quick. No wonder he has to resort to using weasel tactics and become the moderator of all the groups. Or maybe instead of posting testimonials of how great his CPNE Bootcamp is, he will post testimonials of people his company has sued. They will go on and on about how guilty they feel about reselling their copyrighted material.

Well, copyright is a whole another debate. I was just pointing out that he may be right about the copyright issue. I personally got out of the content business because I thought it was a losing proposition with the internet.

Yes, you don't build a successful business by suing your customers. But, at the same time, you can easily have NO customers with the internet, when everyone can easily take your stuff for free. And they do. I've been there, and it was incredibly frustrating. Not that I'm sympathizing with the guy, because I don't know what kind of operation he's running, but I can see how it's a tricky situation for anyone who's trying to do biz on the net.

Well, what about what he may be violating in regards to EC. Doesn't EC explicitly state on their website that they do not support outside organizations or training material?

How can he justify providing training for an event when his program is not even recognized by EC. Then to turn around and say that people do not have a right to use material purchased from these sources. Sounds hypocritical to me.

To be honest I am not really sure what this person is involved in but I have heard that that name has been banned on various boards.

Robmanager (aka LPNCrazy, aka etc., etc.) is a dirty dealer, and peddles a very poor product with tons of misinformation on his practice tests, from what I hear by lots of study buddies. He isn't losing money because of people reselling his crappy product- he's losing money because his stuff sucks, he's shady, and most of us know it. One thing about EC students is that word of mouth goes a long way, and most of us share what we think about certain products. His latest barage & veiled threats to sue those who resell his product, is one more reason not to buy his study materials. Conesequently, when I tried to post just that on his CPNE message board, I was banned as well. Hmmm...glad to join the ranks of the banned with Spazzy & Chris...lol. (Waiting for Robmanager to show up here under a new moniker touting his crappy product...lol.)

Let's say EC, like any college, selects a textbook for their course cirriculum. Course cirriculums are usually developed by state BONs, and I don't think colleges can tell anyone they can't publish competing or supplemental materials.

So there's nothing to stop someone else from publishing a supplemental study guide or whatever for students to buy, if they want to. That's why there are so many competing textbooks in the marketplace.

But, a publisher can copyright that particular study guide or whatever, and they can still enforce it, whether the college approves of the study guide or not.

I bet you that Rob is trying like crazy to become a moderator on this forum so he can ban us here, too! Nobody can say anything bad about his product anywhere.

I sent him a file with my CPNE experience at Ellis. I said I honestly did not know anything good or bad about his CPNE Bootcamp. Surprise! Surprise! The file was never posted. If anyone wants a copy, email me and I will send it to you.
