A branch manager sounds like someone in banking to me. I can't help you, since I don't know, but honestly I think the higher ups like to mess with titles just to confuse people.

In our area, the title "Branch Manager" is most frequently used for the person (usually a nurse) that has 24h responsibility for a Home Care satellite facility. The satellite facilities all report to a nurse executive at a central "mother ship".

No one uses the term DON anymore. It's all "Chief Nursing Officer" or "Chief Nursing Executive" for the people at the top.

I disagree--the DON title is used quite frequently. In our facility we have floor Managers, then above them are the DONs, then we have the CNO, or Chief Nursing Officer. I saw job opportunities all the time for DONs

The DON has a broader scope of management while a branch manager has the responsibility of just one section. And, yes, DON is a title still being used.
