TXBON with 2 Misdemeanors and Felony

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hi all, I posted earlier but was recommended to change it since it was too personal.

I want to go to school for nursing but have pending cases. 2 charges of POM and a felony which I can't disclose on here but not drug related.

My cases keep getting pushed back as my attorneys keep telling me the arrests were bogus and the charges were considered as such too and that I shouldn't be going thru this, however, I decided to get rid of the people from my life who were a negative influence on me so as to keep from getting in trouble again.

I used to smoke, but quit on my own accord because I got tired of it and wanted to move on, mostly because I had depression and anxiety and did anything to help get rid of it, since it was a very severe and acute case I dealt with many years ago and the prescribed medication kept making me sick and vomit, so it was a very horrible ordeal I had to go through.

I decided to go back to school for nursing since I have had a hard time with my previous career finding work and had bad habits I got rid of because I wanted them gone.

I wanted to know if I could get help sending my declaratory order over and start applying for the program and start taking classes so that I can take the NCLEX. The attorney is helping me draft the order and being honest and truthful about it, and that I shouldn't have a problem getting in, only because it was youthful indiscretion at 25 for medical purposes and not for the reason of recreation. I had a very bad case where I was always having panic attacks and getting dizzy in public suffering from a post traumatic event and did anything to help me get over and overcome the said incident as it kept me bed ridden with crying spells and panic attacks for about a year and couldn't function properly for a long time because of it.

I'm now confident and feel like I can go on with life but picked up cases because I was found with them being with the wrong people who I removed from my life.

I am optimistic I can get in and send in the information so that I can be approved for the program and start taking classes this year, I just need to get help to get this over with and start getting ready so that I can get into the program this fall and get into taking my NCLEX after graduation.

I am confident and believe I can do it, since I am getting an upper hand on things already and have been clean and staying away from people, I haven't been on probation or anything yet, but so far, my attorneys are still getting me on pre trial and possibly getting the cases dismissed since they were rather petty cases and nothing serious or offensive according to the defense.

But I wanted to ask because I was worried and scared and want to go and do this since I want a change in career and move on with my life and do something better.

I want to commend you for the work you're doing to turn your life around. There's a "bad news - good news" aspect to your issue. The bad news? Our state is one of the strictest in regards to the way they handle criminal offenses & substance abuse. The (sort of) good news? Tx now requires a criminal background check as part of acceptance into a nursing program. This means that we've pretty much eliminated the situation where students successfully graduate a nursing program only to discover that they are not eligible for NCLEX and licensure.

I would suggest that you speak with representatives of the programs in which you are interested. They will be able to provide you with accurate information. Yours is not an unusual situation, so they should have a fairly accurate idea of your chances of success based upon the experience of other applicants. Be prepared to address questions about how you are managing your emotional health, because (based upon the information you have provided) that was the root cause.

I wish you the absolute best of luck on your educational journey and continued success with your personal growth.
