At the time of my application I had a misdemeanor city ordinance arrest that was dismissed outright (no probation, no SIS, etc.) When I found out my application had been sent to an investigator I immediately hired an attorney who told me write an explanation letter and send to investigator ASAP. I did that as well as hired a second attorney to have the arrest expunged. I then sent a certified copy of the expungement to the investigator. It is like pulling teeth to get any information out of the board and I do not want to call everyday and be annoying for obvious reasons. However, it has been two months now and things are extremely financially tight. I looked at the board website for cases in which nurses have had their APRN application denied and my "case" is nothing like any of those cases as I did not lie on my application (I had not been convicted so I checked NO) and does not involve drugs or alcohol. So I am wondering what in the world is taking so long. My attorney said try to relax, the board takes their sweet time. I haven't even received a single letter yet! I am now at a point where I may lose job offers because this is preventing me from obtaining a DEA and getting credentialed. Does anyone want to look into their crystal ball and give me a little reassurance or have any insight into this? I would reach out to my attorney again but don't feel like paying $250 an hour when my livelihood is in limbo. I am physically ill from this high level of stress.

There is no real way to tell you what would/could happen. Since you have two lawyers I would take their advice. Also, if you have any questions to go to them instead of here. We don't know all the details of your case so it is hard to say what might happen. Good luck!

Your attorneys are right: BONs love to take their sweet time when it comes to applicants with criminal histories. You've done all you could to this point. There isn't much you--or your attorneys--can do to speed the process along.

Good news, it wasn't a big deal and I have my license! I was just "in a pile" waiting to be processed and I let fear consume me. I didn't even have to be sent to the chairperson :) SO HAPPY!
