I was charged with a DUI along with minor things the same night. The minor things (which i'm not even sure what they were?) were dismissed and the DUI lowered to a reckless driving. I'm filling out my background check papers for my live scan and they're asking what I was convicted for. Do i write reckless driving or a DUI?

I went to get my misdemeanor expunged and the paperwork states reckless driving, so should I not mention the DUI since it wasn't my conviction even though that's what i was originally charged for? totally confused and don't want to come off as a liar or I'm out of the program.

  4. The record can't be expunged as far as any BON, ever- you will never be able to tell any BON that you have not been arrested. Also, every BON will require that you provide them the arrest records, the court documents, and documents that show you complied with sentencing, fines, and etc. There's no way to do anything but be straight up, and make your claims match exactly why you were arrested ("Yes- I was arrested for possible DUI and the charge was reduced to wreckless op"), the proceedings, and the final outcome. If you say you were arrested for wreckless driving, and the BON finds you were trying skirt the issue of a possible DUI, it will not look good. There are tons of posts in here talking about expungment, 'what should I tell the BON', etc. There's nowhere to hide, all you can do is be forthright, totally. And I'm sure you will be treated the same as anyone that was convicted of a DUI, in fact.
  5. Thanks for your input. I ended up putting my arrest and the outcome of everything. So stressful!!! Hopefully I'll pass my clearance for clinicals so I can start this program once and for all!
  6. Still, don't get your hopes up BON wise. Be prepared for them to force you into whatever DUI program/conditional or probational license they may have, regardless of your final outcome. Better to fear the worst, and experience something better, than to have high hopes, then face worst case scenario. They play by their own rules, is all.

Did you ever end up getting your license?
  8. Hi!! I wasn't applying for the NCLEX, I was doing the livescan for my nursing program. Everything went well, and I just finished my first year.

Since I'm on summer break, now I'm trying to get all the paperwork I need to apply for the NCLEX next year since I know I won't have time during the year to do so. Thanks for all your answers!
