I gave a great reference for my friend 2 weeks ago. I was shocked to hear that she hadn't gotten the job yet. How long does it take to call around to all her references? Do you think one was bad and she isn't getting it? Just wondering what the usual deal is on this.

One good reference doesn't get you a job. Another applicant with more education and experience could get the job over your friend.

True, but I was thinking they would only make calls if they were considering hiring someone over someone else.
