I'm debating on what I want to do post graduate.

I love... love... love computers. Built my own. I love troubleshooting everyone's computers, recovering lost data from broken drives, reformatting, installing, debugging etc.

But I also love medicine, healthcare, math, science, chemistry and biology. Computers still are at the top of my list.

Could you simply describe a typical day?

Is shadowing an informatist an option? (don't see why not!).

What do you like about it, hate about it, what is different or not what you thought it would be? What would you change?

Another small hospital a couple hours from us is using the same EHR, so I'm planning to go there for a day and follow their CIS to see what all she does. Today has actually been one of my busiest days yet, I'm going to post about it in the sticky at the top of this board, if you wanna check it out :)

I run the super user program and do a fair amount of EHR training and troubleshooting. My team also gets pulled quite a bit to sit on committees and sub groups where a clinical perspective is needed (we are all RNs). For example I'll sit in on vendor presentations for different hardware upgrades. We also do a decent amount of small project management.
