Epic Super user

Hello, I am interested in working travel assignments as an Epic RN Super user. How would I go about getting into this field. I am an ED RN with 8 years experience and 3 years experience with Epic. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Are you planning on keeping your ED job?

If your current facility is up and running with Epic, that would be the best place to start. Gain more experience by working there as an Epic analyst in whatever module they need assistance in. I know nurses who plan their vacations around go lives in other cities. Consulting agencies are always looking for clinical analysts. During training, it helps your credibility with the other nurses and physicians if you can relate to concerns they voice during classes.

If you want to only support the end users during the go lives, networking on LinkedIn is a good place to start. Post your resume, stressing your Epic experience, AND version that you are familiar with, as well as your clinical experience.

I also know of some nurses who applied directly to Epic in Verona, WI, your best bet to get the certifications you need/want. If working directly for Epic, once you leave their employment, you cannot work as a consultant or analyst for 1-2 years, as part of their non-competitive clause. No getting around that. You can PM me if you have more specific questions.

Good luck.

Thank you, EMR*LPN!!! You have shared some very valuable information!!

Also, EMR*LPN, yes I am keeping my job. I work Flexi and only have to log 1-12 hr shift ev 14 weeks! This week has been very disappointing bcuz I applied for 2 Epic jobs and after much anticipation and thinking that I was the perfect candidate after talking with the persons who do the hiring, both jobs fell thru!! Both were contract jobs out of state and one of them was thru a staffing agency. I am still checking on other options. And I did apply on Epic's website and posted my resume on LinkedIn. 'Still searching' is the best way to describe my mode right now!! Thx for the advice!!

Specializes in ER preceptorship, almost a year on PCU..

Try this site: Epic | Excite Health Partners

EMRjobs.com might be another helpful one.

You have a great background for it, with 8 years of clinical experience, but the big advantage is the 3 years using Epic. While I have clinical experience and training/implementation experience, there are a lot of positions out there that look for experience with a specific system (Cerner, Allscripts, NextGen, etc.).

Specializes in "Wound care - geriatric care.

I'm interested in becoming a Epic trainer. I have previous experience with computers and am a RN with some experience. How can I go about becoming an consultant in California.

Are you currently working at a facility that has implemented Epic? If so, that is where you should start. Try to get into an analyst's position. If none are available, join http://www.LinkedIn.com, post your resume, stress your Epic experience, as well as clinical experience. If you post it, they will come. (apologies to "Field of Dreams" ). Good luck!
