Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

yssanova, speak in English. Wear your corporate attire. Just be honest. Good luck! :)

amihan_leaf, I don't have any formal hospital experiences. I think they are particular with the board rating or maybe the TOR. Because all you have to submit at first is your resume, board rating and TOR. So I guess they screen first the applicants thru those documents :)

Tips (based on my experience):

1. Submission of credentials:

- Documents required are your resume, board rating and TOR. You can give it directly at the HRD 6th floor Tower 2. You can wear any decent clothes for this one. They will advise you on when they'll contact you. In my case I was instructed that they will contact me within 30-60 days.

2. Initial Exam

- IQ exam and then personality exam if you passed the IQ. IQ exam was really tough. Results were given right after the exam, but in some other cases they were instructed that they will just be contacted if they passed.

3. Initial Interview

- Conducted by the HR. The usual interview questions. Just be yourself. Be honest. They want nurses who really wants to practice the profession not just to get a certificate of employment after a year or two.

4. Final Interview

- Conducted by the Nursing Services Division. Most of the interviewers were head nurses. Situational questions (nursing). Not that technical. More on nurse-patient relationship. Lots of questions. My interview lasted for 20minutes or more I think. Results were given after lunch (interview was done in the morning).

5. Medical

- right after you passed the final interview. Preemployment forms and documents were also given already :)

hi. were you informed that you passed the initial interview right after or you were informed that you will be contacted? thank you

shadowself, the interviewer said that they will contact me 2 weeks-1month I think. Then they contacted me after a week for the final int.

Thank you. I'm kind of worried because i didn't do well during the interview so i thought i failed already.

i had my initial interview this morning. i asked them how do i know if i passed, the interviewer said that they will let me know if i passed or failed. and usually she said it would take a maximum of 30 days before they inform u, otherwise if u did not receive any text/call from them after the waiting period, it just means they considered other applicants for the position.

The same info was also informed to me. Let's just wait and keep each other updated.

Just an update. My friends had their initial exam and interview last week and this week. And then they are scheduled for final interview next week. :)

were they informed right away? or they still waited for days or weeks?

yssanova, I think they were informed right way or they were contacted immediately. They just had their initial exam last week and they are for final interview already next week :) Maybe they had their initial interview this week or late last week :)

A friend of friend of mine had also her initial interview I think last week or 2 weeks ago. She was instructed that they will just contact her but others were given the sched for the final interview :)

I guess the scheduling depends on the availability of the interviewer. Maybe they could not accomodate everyone who passed the initial one. During our time, we were only 8 in the batch. The interviewers are head nurses so they couldn't spend the entire day interviewing applicants. If you know in yourself that you did satisfy the interviewer during the initial then just wait for their call/text :) I'm sure everyone who did their best and pray for the best will surely get this.

from cebu here guys..just got here in manila just to pass my requirements..what shall i state im my application guys?nurse trainee or staff nurse?..thank you guys.
