where to work? (Asian or MMC?)

Hi everyone.... Well I'm currently thinking of where to work.

My first option is Makati Medical Center. I graduated in that institution and our school is always the priority when it comes to hiring nurses there. I know the place, know the benefits (that only MMC offers), seminars, training, experiences, some of the staff and the facilities. Travel is the least problem. I want to be in the ICU, OR or Kidney unit. Sad to say, 100% I wont be able to go to ICU because my brother is already working there. Relatives can't work in the same area. And my cousin also wants to work in the ICU. Same hospital, lucky for her, she has different lastname although her mom is known in the OR and ICU as a CI and the aunt of one of the staff. I want to work in that area too...

The my second option is Asian Hospital. I don't know anything about this instituation. New faces, just few minutes away from my house, new facilities, I don't know if they offer free seminars and training like MMC. I also dont know the benefits. In short, I have to start from scratch! The only difference is, I can work in the ICU if ever I'll be assign there.

I really need advice, suggestions, comments or any information..... Thank you...

Just want to ask people from this thread do Asian and MMC have specific date for training or do they started already the trainings for this month? And what is there requirments? I'm also planning to work here but I do not have any idea how to apply here.

Thanks.

I dont know when the training will start. But I know MMC dont accept new board passer not until after oathtaking.

Here's the requirements.

1.Updated curriculum vitae

2.Current PRC ID

3.Board rating and board certificate

4. TOR

5. BSN diploma

6.Certificate of good moral (MMC requires 2. From guidance office and dean's office. Actually dont know if its applicable in other schools.)

7. Birth certificate

8.NBI/SSS

9. 2 pieces 2x2 colored pictures (white background)

(Please submit photocopies of the above and present originals for screening)

- to be interviewed only upon passing the interview.

You can pass the requirements in mezzinine. 9th floor.

Regarding Asian requirements, I can't find the complete requirements sent by my classmate. You can ask Rastah28. I think his planning to apply in Asian

may i ask where you heard that? i dont think they require a certain board rating for their applicants unlike heart center and other hospital. and i haven't heard they requires voluntary service either. they have this so called cetn but its not voluntary. the nurse must pay i think around p8000 to undergo training for 6 months in order to get a certificate. but if you plan to work there, you dont have to pay them, they pay you! actually they have out-reach programs for the less fortunate people sponsored by volunteer nurses and doctors as well as my former school, but that's voluntary. if you have time and wants to join, you can go with them. you see, if one hospital requires their applicant to have a "voluntary service," that's not voluntary anymore.

oh by the way, that's only applicable to mmc. i really dont know much about asian. from what i've heard, asian just requires their applicant to have an iv therapy license, bls/als other from the papers.

hope i answered your question...;)

hello! i just want to ask what the difference is between board rating and board certificate. i have a "certificate of passing/failure" which states that i passed with my grade on it. in this case, is it considered the same? if not, what does the board certificate really represent?

another thing. is the certificate of good moral character still needed even if you worked for another institution? or is it required only for new graduates? i mean, i feel weird to obtain a certificate of good moral character from my school because i graduated more than 2 years ago. i will try to contact the hospital. but if you can answer these questions, thank you.

hello again, lenjoy! if they do not require an applicant to have a certain rating, then what do they need the board rating for. just asking.

I'm not really sure about the exact definition between board rating and board certificate.

Board rating, its just an informal way to determine your grades in the board exam written in the paper given by the guard in PRC

Board certificate is yellow form given in PRC to be send in our houses. Its more of the formal way to present your grades and to really certify that you did passed the board exam... Well not really sure if I defined it correctly.

I'm just wondering where our money went. I thought sending this certificate via snailmail is already included on the P900 we paid when we applied for the board exam!

Regarding the good moral certificate. I think even if you graduated 2 yrs ago, you still have to get it if you apply in MMC. The form given to me in the Training office doesn't indicate that the requirements to be pass are for new graduates only. I think it's applicable to all applicants! If you want to be sure, you can call them. 8888999. Just tell the operator to connect you in the Training office.

Thank you for this response lenjoy. I planned to call the office today but something else came up. I hope I get accepted in MMC and hope to see you there. I just heard that the priority is given to your graduates which is but natural and understandable. But I am hoping that they will consider my application. Currently, I lack the good moral character. I meant the certificate. I have a clean record. Hehehe

Regarding the board certificate and board rating: I already have a copy of the Certificate of Passing which includes my rating. But i also have a copy of the breakdown of my grades in the board exam. I got both in PRC (and never intended the documents to be mailed to me). You know how it is in our beloved country. Hehehe. :lol2: I guess i just have to photocopy and submit both.

I stand corrected...

Just been to PRC this morning. The place was really crowded!

The lady in Window B told me that board rating will be send via snailmail! Worth P200 for express! So that wasn't the piece of paper i mentioned above! The board certificate will be given after the oathtaking...

Gee... I'm really confused! Sorry for the wrong information!

I think I would understand it further if I get a hold of the board rating and board certificate.

IF i may correct.. the board rating contain your scores in the 5 part test..you can request it in PRC office but if you are willing to wait...the prc will send you the original board rating through snailmail...a Board certificate on the other hand is a certificate given to all professionals that pass the licensure...it looks like a diploma, it must be claim personally at prc office, sometime or months after you has registered for the license..prc announces if it is already available for release... hope this explanation helps!
