Makati medical center- cetn 2012

Hello, my fellow Filipino Nurses!

I'd like to talk about the CETN program in Makati Medical Center.

Last September, I was advised by a friend of mine who is currently a staff nurse in MMC, that they are already open for application for the CETN.

CETN is a training program for nurses who would like to work in MMC. This is NOT a direct hire post. Accepted applicants will go through 2-month training and then eventually, they COULD be absorbed/ hired as a staff.

This has been an on-going program in MMC for years now, but the difference this year, is that the nurses who get accepted will no longer pay the fee of 10,000 PHP.

The process that I went through started with submitting basic credentials like TOR, Board Certificate, and of course, your updated resume. They will screen the applicants from there, based on their board rating I guess, and the school you graduated from makes a big difference. You will be instructed to wait for their call, for usually 2 weeks.

In my case, they called within the week from my submission. I submitted my credentials on a Tuesday; they called me Friday that same week to invite me to come for the exam. The exam was scheduled the next Monday.

After the exam, you will undergo the initial interview. Mine was set 2 days after the exam which was a Wednesday. The initial interview consists of basic questions about yourself, your educational and work background (if any) and there are some personal questions too.

They instructed me to undergo medical examination that same day, and gave me a list of requirements to complete.

I completed the medical exam about 2 weeks after the initial interview. MEDICAL EXAM FOR CETN IS FREE. IT IS COVERED BY MMC. Should you withdraw your application though, they would require you to pay.

I was instructed to wait for a call/ text from HR regarding the schedule of my final interview; they texted 2 weeks after the completion of my medical exam.

The final interview went smoothly; it was a one on one encounter, not the usual panel interview. It lasted for 30 minutes. The questions were about nursing knowledge. They would evaluate how much you have retained and of course your application of that knowledge. Most of the questions were situational.

They called to inform me that I passed the final interview 2 weeks later. And asked me to wait for another call, as a go-signal to pass the requirements they asked me to complete earlier in the process. They also mentioned that the training would probably start in the first quarter of next year (2013), 2nd quarter would be the latest.

I asked a few questions, by the way, on that last conversation with HR. I asked whether we would be given an allowance or any compensation during training, how long the training would last and the probability and duration after training of getting hired.

They couldn't give me an exact answer regarding the allowance or compensation during training because they haven't finalized everything yet. The training would last 2 months and eventual hiring would depend on your performance and vacancies. All these would be evaluated first. According to my friend though, it will only take a week after training then they would call you right away for employment.

That was my experience. I'm still waiting now, they said they would probably call on the first week of January.

Please feel free to comment! I would appreciate more input regarding this. The forum I was following is already closed and I don't have any more resources. If you have any intel regarding the CETN program, please, please comment!

Yeah, Im still optimistic about it. I hope the best for you! 2 weeks-1month is another long wait but at least your application is moving fast. Are you going to face more exams/interviews after that?

I think the next thing would be Final Interview.

Great! Good Luck White Wiz! Do you have some tips for people (like me) who are still waiting? hehe

I don't think I can give you any more tips aside from the ones I've given about the exams, but I guess the best thing to do right now is pray, pray and pray, and try passing requirements to as many hospitals as possible. ^^

I received a text, too, to report tomorrow for signing of agreement for training. Maybe we'll start next week.

Congrats, Episiotomy! I'm happy for you! :)

Hi chibichibi!

Good job for being included in the COPN! ^^

It was my initial interview earlier this day, and I'm curious, how long did you wait for them to contact you after the initial interview?

And may I ask what questions did they ask you on the final interview?

Thank you very much and God bless! :D

Oh, and one more thing, were you asked to take the medical exam after the initial interview or the final interview? I'm starting to feel worried because the interviewer didn't mention anything about the medical exam during our interview.:nailbiting:

Hello The White Wizard, Good that you have been messaged already.Did you apply for training or a staff nurse position?

Wow wait, are applying for COPN and the staff nurse position two different things? We submitted our resume applyng for the staff nurse position while what we really intended was to apply for the training? I noticed on the HR Receptionist's desk requirements to be submitted for the staff nurse position and it didn't say anything about applying for training at all. I think applying for the staff nurse position is simply applying for training.i

Hi Mikeru! Well, Im not quite sure too, but the way I understood some of the posts here, I think they are different things. I need some enlightenment though if I am wrong hehe. I also did submit mine to the HR where they posted the reqts for staff nurse position. Are you also waiting to be contacted? May God bless us!

Rob09, I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier, I suggest you follow up your application via telephone. You can find their phone number at their website.

Thanks for the advice White Wiz, I was told to wait until the 2nd quarter of this year so maybe I should call them in June to follow up. I guess Im also not ready to hear negative news from them if I follow up now, but in time I hope Ill be ready just in case. What made me a bit worried is why they havent contacted me when we I submitted my reqts about the date when you gave yours.

signed the contract today. they are already interviewing nurses for the next batch. pass your applications now!

is it a two year contract with MMC??? What will happen if you didn't finish the two year contract?

Yes I am, my friend and I just submitted our requirements last Friday.

Hmmm well it makes sense to think that everyone who is applying for the staff nurse position will be qualified for the screening process for CETN/COPN. I don't think MMC hires applicants for the staff nurse post right away without having them undergo the training first...oh well I think this is the case for applicants from other schools other than RTR. :D

God bless everyone.

I'm sorry but may I ask what is the meaning of RTR?
